Dagashi Snack is very popular for foreign tourists in Japan.
Dagashi refers to cheap sweets and snacks. Dagashi are similar to American Penny Candy. The word “”Dagashi”” is derived from the Japanese words “”da”” (“”in vain”” or “”negligible””) and “”kashi”” (snacks).
The low prices and fun packaging are designed to attract children with small allowances, and “”Dagashi”” has become known as the little sweets that kids can afford with pocket money.
Most Dagashi are packed in bright, childish packaging and sometimes with a small toy or price. The toys are often small figures, and a common prize is a random prize that allows the owner to claim a second free snack. Dagashi used to be sold in shops that specialize mainly in Dagashi, called “”dagashiya””. Box size: 165 ? 120 ? 30 (mm) with AKIBA KING sticker!
